BORNHOLM MOST SUSTAINABLE ISLAND IN EUROPE

Bornholm has been chosen as the most sustainable island in Europe! Samsø, another Danish Island, is a close second. Bornholm has been focusing for a long time on the green transition. Bornholm, among other things, has distinguished itself by beginning the phase-out of coal and oil early. And with limited financial resources available installing renewable energy sources. The result is an efficient and reduced energy consumption and large reductions in CO2 emissions. Other initiatives as "Bornholm shows the way" focus on a future where every single piece of garbage is being recycled. An ambitious plan, which they aim to have completed by 2032. By winning this price they recieve a fund from Europe that can help them further along the way.
