GAMBETTA GROUPE | FR

Scaledenmark had the pleasure of guiding 88 delegates from the Gambetta Groupe, a leader in real estate and social housing development in France. They came to Copenhagen to discover new housing investment typologies to respond to changing markets and rising pressures with urban growth. Our talented French-speaking architects and urban planners led an exciting tour throughout the Ørestad district to showcase key housing projects including VM Mountain Dwellings/VM Houses (PLOT = JDS + BIG), the mega-urban block 8-house (BIG) and Tietgen Student Housing (Lundgaard & Tranberg). Unfortunately for our clients, the weather was terribly windy and cold – not uncommon here in Copenhagen! – but everyone braved the elements to see the iconic buildings first-hand.

Another key component of the tour program was an introduction to the Urban Rigger - a floating, mobile, and C02 neutral property totaling 680 m2, which is spread over 300 m2 of housing as a response to a local student housing crisis. BIG Partner Jakob Sand and Project Manager Laurent de Carnière presented a lecture on the elements of the design, as well as the evolution of BIG’s project success over the past 10 years. It was an extremely compelling lecture that presented valuable insight behind BIG’s design philosophy and business approach for built and speculative projects. We are grateful for their informative and well-formulated design presentation. We hope the Gambetta Groupe has been inspired by BIG and Copenhagen!
