Biomega’s Sleek New Bike Store Opens in Copenhagen

08.04.2015

In Copenhagen, where cycling is the main mode of transport, bikes are serious business. The latest addition to the Nordic capital’s bike-shop scene comes courtesy of Biomega, a Danish brand of urban designer bicycles that has opened its first-ever flagship in the city center.

From cargo bikes to slick single speeds, Biomega is known for its streamlined designs that pack a lot of punch. The brand has enlisted the likes of Ross Lovegrove, Marc Newson, and Karim Rashid to draft models in the past, underlining its dedication to premium design and functionality alike.

True to Biomega’s purist aesthetic, the new two-level space underscores a commitment to minimalism and a no-frills design approach. The basement level, which will be used as a workshop, features sleek polished-concrete flooring, a tool wall, and little else. The upstairs showroom meets coffee shop is a pure white space where the bikes take center stage on the truly Scandinavian wide-plank, light-wood flooring, while accessories—from helmets to raingear—neatly line the walls.
